I engaged Oliva And Sons Electrical in Ipswich QLD to handle the electrical wiring from a granny flat to a new meter that would be placed in our meter box. And to connect a new hot water service. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The hot water service was initially connected with only a 10-amp fuse, causing it to repeatedly trip and fail to function properly. So he had to come back and fix that. It took him months to oganize a separate meter because he never provided the correct information to the power supplier. He refused to install the overhead cable as was agreed upon in the quote and in his own contract.

After the initial payment of $2,189 (the agreed contract price for the entire job), I paid this. I was then informed of an additional charge of $3,943.50. With other possible extra charges. He was trying to rip me off for this extra amount even though the first contract included everything.

Despite offering an extra $1,000 to resolve the issues, the contractor failed to honor the original agreement and left the job incomplete. I ultimately had to hire another electrician, who completed the work for significantly less. As a result, I am out of pocket for the amounts already paid to Oliva And Sons Electrical.

I strongly advise against using their services. The work was substandard, the communication poor, and the business practices and ethics questionable. Proceed with caution if considering this contractor. I cannot recommend his services. I have copies of both charge contracts in PDF form that he provided. He tried to more than double charge me for the same job.
